Former Warrington and Wakefield forward retires

Tyrone McCarthy has announced his retirement via social media.

The Warrington academy product made 43 appearances for the Wolves, including two Challenge Cup successes before moving on-loan to Wakefield, Leigh and Swinton.

A year spent in Australia with the Northern Pride set McCarthy up for a Super League return with Hull KR before yet another trip Down Under with St George Illawarra Dragons came to fruition.

The forward then joined Salford Red Devils, where he helped the club reach the the 2019 Super League Grand Final and last year’s Challenge Cup Final.

McCarthy, who also represented Ireland at two Rugby League World Cups, has been at Leigh in 2021, but will now be hanging up his boots.
