Former Super League coach takes on new role

Former NRL, Huddersfield Giants and St Helens head coach Nathan Brown will join the Parramatta Eels’ NRLW staff as a coaching advisor for the 2023 season.

Brown played 172 NRL games and has coached 475 games in the NRL and English Super League after becoming the youngest non-playing coach in the NRL at the age of 29.

He is currently also the Head of Elite Pathways at Parramatta Eels.

Brown joins NSW Sky Blues and Eels assistant coach Kate Mullaly, and head coach Dean Widders who are both returning for the Blue & Gold’s third season in the competition.

Mullaly was also an assistant coach for the Jillaroos at last year’s World Cup and was formerly a top-level rugby league player.

Widders returned to the Eels in 2021 as head coach, after previously representing the Club as a player in the NRL.

General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill said, “Nathan has coached over 250 NRL games and therefore brings a wealth of experience which will provide Dean Widders and his staff with great support.

“His ability to connect and communicate the technical aspects of the game will accelerate the development of our players and add value to our overall program.”
