Ex-Bradford Bulls boss Mick Potter set to take reins of damaged club in surprise move

Former Bradford Bulls head coach Mick Potter knows what it takes to be at a club where the pressure is mounting.

He served at Odsal at a time of great financial strife for the club, even working for free at one point.

And, now, according to the World Wide of Sports, Potter is set to take over the reins at the Canterbury Bulldogs until the end of the season.

A Super League link has also been made with the Bulldogs vacancy from 2023 onwards, with Kristian Woolf being linked with a move back home when his contract with reigning champions St Helens ends at the end of this season.

And, Fox Sports has revealed that, following Trent Barrett’s exit from Canterbury Bulldogs, Woolf’s is a name that has been considered.

“I don’t think the Phil Gould situation works, I can’t see that happening at all,” Daily Telegraph journalist Dave Riccio said.

“The name Kristian Woolf keeps coming up to me, he’s been in the UK Super League and he’s the coach of Tonga.

“As for Shane Flanagan, I think that’s a bridge too far considering (his son) Kyle is there.

“Paul Green’s the other one sitting in the background waiting for a job. Would he come in and take care of the Bulldogs?”

Woolf did, however, reiterate his desire to stay at the Totally Wicked Stadium following Saints’ big win over Hull FC on Friday night.

“I’m not quite sure at this stage,” Woolf said.

“There are a few things for me to weigh up there but I love what this club offers and what this playing group do and that’s the most important thing.

“I would certainly be more than happy to keep with the playing group but there are a few things to consider at this time.”
