Eddie and Stevo reveal surprising dark horse to win the Super League Grand Final ahead of St Helens or Wigan Warriors

We are rapidly approaching the business end of the season in Super League.

That means that predictions will be coming in thick and fast for who fans believe will lift the Grand Final trophy at the end of September.

The favourites are, of course, St Helens and who wouldn’t bet against them to make it four in a row and three in a row for head coach Kristian Woolf?

Breathing down their necks, however, are the Wigan Warriors who have already scooped up once piece of silverware in 2022 with the Challenge Cup but who are getting ready for a tilt at the Grand Final,  having not won it four years.

Despite those two as favourites, Huddersfield Giants and Catalans Dragons are no easy pushovers as they sit inside the top four whilst the last two spots are open to a number of challengers.

Castleford Tigers currently occupy fifth spot and Leeds Rhinos sixth, but all that could change with a Leeds win tonight following Castleford’s loss last night.

Meanwhile, Salford Red Devils are engineering a major push for a play-off place too having been rejuvenated under Paul Rowley so far in 2022.

Hull FC and Hull KR do still have an outside chance of making it, but that chance is slowly slipping away.

For former Sky Sports commentator Mike ‘Stevo’ Stephenson, he believes a surprise team will fill one of the remaining play-off spots, despite their mounting injury list.

“Maybe Castleford, they could be the sneaky team to create an upset,” ‘Stevo’ said on the Eddie and Stevo podcast.

“That was a pretty good win against Catalans and they are playing pretty strong.”

Of course, Stevo may well change his mind after last night’s loss to Huddersfield in what proved a damning result for the end of season trophies.
