Dewsbury retain experienced halfbacks

Dewsbury Rams have retained the services of former internationals Liam Finn and Paul Sykes for the 2021 season.

Ireland international signed for the club last year from Newcastle Thunder, and helped the Rams secure their survival in the Championship.

He told the club website:  “I have stayed because I enjoyed being around this group a lot. I was enjoying it all before COVID.

“It is a hardworking group who try their hardest to look out for each other and try to play as a team.

“I was enjoying myself which is always a major factor in personal performance and enthusiasm to carry on.”

Sykes has been at the club since 2016, after signing from Featherstone Rovers. He has also had several successful spells in the Super League with Bradford Bulls, London Broncos and Wakefield Trinity.

The 39-year-old has also played for England and Great Britain.

He added:  “It’s a no brainier really, I’ve been here a few years now it’s my hometown club and I always said I’d like to finish my career here whenever that may be.

“If there’s any knowledge that I can pass on to the young lads, I’m always there. I’m a big believer in skill and the fundamentals of the game there’s always room for improvements.”
