Championship star leaves for Australian opportunity

Newcastle Thunder have made an impressive few years in cementing themselves as a strong Championship club.

Although they haven’t been able to sustain their fulltime status, they have a very exciting squad with some top class names within their squad for 2023.

However, they have lost one of the local boys to Australia.

Isaac Nokes has left the club to join the Ipswich Jets, a club that former Leeds Rhinos star and current Hull KR hooker Matt Parcell.

They participate in the Queensland Cup and won the title in 2015.

Nokes is a young man and has only made 27 appearances but has made a real impression and will keep fans up to date on his journey down under.

He is only 21.

Wishing him well, the club said: “Geordie down under.

“Best of luck to Isaac Nokes who is making his way over to Australia to link up with the Ipswich Jets for the 2023 season

“Fans can keep up to date with Isaac’s progress with some special update vlogs over the season

“Everyone at the club is proud of you.”

It will be interesting to see how he gets on at his new club who once made a bid to the NRL and have previously worked well with Salford Red Devils
