Catalans content with losing Sam Tomkins

Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara has assessed the potentially gamechanging injury news to Sam Tomkins ahead of the French club’s semi-final play-off fixture against Hull KR.

Dragons fans will have been ruing their luck when they saw Tomkins limp off during the French side’s 12-8 defeat to Wigan Warriors last Friday night.

The Dragons went down to a shock defeat after mercurial halfback James Maloney surprisingly missed two conversion attempts to Tom Davies’ and Mathieu Laguerre’s efforts, but the sight of Tomkins in a leg brace didn’t go down well with Catalans head coach Steve McNamara.

McNamara was, however, determined not to go too far overboard with the potential injury.

Catalans President Bernard Guasch has also invited French Prime Minister Jean Castex to the Stade Gilbert Brutus.
