Castleford Tigers suffer major blow ahead of new season

Wigan Warriors Head Coach Matt Peet has named his squad for the clash in Super League Round One away at Castleford Tigers.

The game is set to make history as the first game broadcast live on BBC.

The Warriors head coach has named new signings Adam Keighran, Kruise Leeming and Luke Thompson in the squad, which could see the trio make their first competitive appearances for the Club in West Yorkshire.

Prop forward Mike Cooper, who started in the Reserves’ friendly win over Huddersfield Giants last weekend, is selected in a Super League squad for the first time since he suffered a serious knee injury last April.

Craig Lingard has selected his first Super League 21-man squad for the season opener against Wigan Warriors!

There is a potential 7 players included that could make their Super League debut for the Fords as we welcome the reigning champions into the Jungle.

Paul McShane misses out through injury sustained in training. As the club are awaiting the results of a scan, he has been left out as a precaution.

It is believed that the injury could keep him out of the side for six weeks in what would be a massive blow for the Tigers as per reports.

This comes just weeks after McShane played in his testimonial game as the Tigers defeated Huddersfield Giants in their final pre-season friendly.

The Tigers are hoping for a better start to the season in 2024 than they managed last year when the started off with great difficulty.
