Castleford Tigers stars whose contracts run out at the end of 2022

Castleford Tigers will be heading into a new era under new head coach Lee Radford in 2022 following the departure of Daryl Powell.

Powell, who was in charge of the Tigers for eight-and-a-half years, has joined the Warrington Wolves whilst former Hull FC boss Radford takes the reins at the Jungle.

He has already brought in a whole host of new signings with the likes of Jake Mamo, Callum McLelland and Bureta Faraimo just some of those who will be plying their trade for the Tigers for the first time in 2022.

But, Radford will also have a big retention job in front of him given the fact that 14 of his first-team squad will be out of contract at the end of the upcoming season.

That includes Australian Cheyse Blair who has yet to really find his feet at the Jungle after joining midway through the 2019 Super League season.

Wingers James Clare, Greg Eden and Derrell Olpherts also face a countdown on their deals with the Tigers currently entertaining a plethora of three-quarters.

Among those other three-quarters without a contract are Sosaia Feki and Mahe Fonua – though the latter does have an option until 2024 if the club wishes. Feki, meanwhile, has played just 25 minutes in two years.

Of course, Kenny Edwards joined on a one-year loan from the Huddersfield Giants, whilst halfbacks Danny Richardson and Jake Trueman are also in the last year of their deals.

George Griffin, Sam Hall, Brad Martin, Lewis Peachey and Cain Robb are the remaining five off-contract.
