Castleford Tigers given fresh injury blow ahead of Toulouse Olympique clash

Castleford Tigers have a fresh injury worry ahead of their Super League fixture against Toulouse Olympique.

Prop Daniel Smith was taken from the field during the Tigers’ 40-16 drubbing of Leeds Rhinos at the weekend, but concussion protocol means he will be ruled out from any action this week.

It’s a blow for the West Yorkshire club given the fact that Smith has been a major bright spark in their inconsistent start to the Super League season in 2022.

The Tigers have won just one league game in six rounds so far, but host newly-promoted side Toulouse Olympique in round seven on Friday night.

Toulouse themselves have just two points from the opening six rounds, but have been much improved in recent weeks, knocking off St Helens’ 100% unbeaten record over a week ago.

The French side, of course, chose not to enter the Challenge Cup in 2022 so have had an extra weekend off ahead of their visit to the Jungle.

The Tigers have attempted to maximise their crowd for this fixture with a range of activities on a 1970s theme as well as the offer ‘Five for £50’ in terms of tickets.
