Cas confirm departing forward has played his last game

Castleford Tigers have announced Oliver Holmes, who is set to join Warrington Wolves next year, has played his last game for the club after picking up a neck injury.

He is set to follow teammate Peter Mata’utia and Head Coach Daryl Powell to the Halliwell Jones Stadium next year.

The club have said Holmes has an acute bulging disc in his neck as the result of a whiplash injury he picked up in Saturday’s defeat against Hull KR. This will rule him out for at least six weeks.

Reacting to the news, Holmes said:“I am heartbroken to end my time at Castleford Tigers like this and to not get one last game at The Jungle with the lads, but this is sport, these things happen, and it is what it is.

“I’ve loved my time at Cas, and I will be at the game on Thursday night cheering us on for the win, and I will be able to say my goodbyes after the game. Hopefully, the lads secure the victory, push on in the play-offs and get to that Grand Final.

“Thank you to the Cas fans for your support as always.”
