Brett Hodgson emphasises the importance of Hull FC’s home form ahead of Toulouse game

Today Hull FC host Toulouse Olympique as they look to claim a fifth consecutive home win and reclaim a place in the top four after Huddersfield leapfrogged them on Thursday.

The Black and Whites can also open up some daylight between them and rivals Hull KR who lost to Leeds last night.

The Black and Whites are quietly having a really strong season and home form has been key to that picking up four of their six wins at the MKM Stadium including wins over last year’s Grand Finalists Catalans as well as against the Warrington Wolves.

Another home win this afternoon would be vital in their quest for the top four especially as they’re expected to win against bottom club Toulouse.

However, without a recognised halfback that will be easier said than done.

Nonetheless, Hodgson has emphasised the importance of doing so and the wider significance of playing well at home this season as the Black and Whites look to become a dark horse for Super League success in 2022.

In his pre-match press conference, Hodgson said: “I know it’s plagued us over a number of years so it’s part of our pre-season conversation was about making sure we did perform well at home and give our supporters something to cheer about and something they want to turn up and watch.

“I think we’ve been happy in large elements in the last two weeks in particular but you’re only as good as your next game and we need to make sure that is another successful event for us on Saturday.”

Toulouse themselves know the significance of home form. They’ve performed much better in France this season defeating Champions St Helens and are yet to win away. So, in some ways this is a free hit for the French side as they look to shock Hull.
