Salford director Paul King has confirmed that fullback Niall Evalds will leave the club at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old is currently the Red Devils’ longest-serving player, making 147 appearances and scoring 100 tries.
After eight seasons with the club’s first team, however, the England Knights representative will now move on at the end of 2020 after turning down a new contract.
In an exchange with a fan on Twitter, King said: “We made him a fantastic offer. He has chosen to go elsewhere for 2021, (which is) disappointing, but that’s sport. We move on.”
League Express have reported that Evalds is set to join Castleford, with confirmation from both clubs expected in the near future.
His arrival at the Tigers would leave question marks surrounding Jordan Rankin’s future, as Evalds would likely take the first-choice fullback spot.
