York sign Super League winner

York City Knights have completed the signing of former Super League Grand Final winner, and Man of Steel nominee Adam Cuthbertson for the 2021 season.

Cuthbertson joined the Rhinos ahead of the 2015 season, and made an immediate impact in helping the side to the treble.

His performances did not go unnoticed, as he was nominated for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel award, losing out to teammate Zak Hardaker.

He also helped them to another Super League title in 2017.

Cuthbertson said of the move: “I’m very excited. I’ve had a good couple of conversations with Jon (Flatman) and Fordy (head coach James Ford) about what they’re aiming to achieve next year so yeah, it’s very exciting and I think it’s a great opportunity.

“The fact that York, as a team, represents such a big city makes it a great opportunity to help the game grow and, hopefully, find our way into Super League.”

Head Coach James Ford added:”We should acknowledge the efforts and loyalty of our supporters and sponsors who have enabled us to add Adam to our squad for 2021.

“I feel Adam will make a significant impact on our preparations and culture, as well as our on-field performances. He gives us added leadership and experience, but also a different dimension to our attack with his offload game. I was impressed with Adam’s drive to be the best version of himself, his humility and I’m excited to work with him.”
