York sign Super League fullback

Huddersfield’s Aidan McGowan has joined York City Knights on-loan.

McGowan’s move will help strengthen York in the backs, with the likes of Ryan Atkins and Ben Jones-Bishop all out for James Ford’s side.

Huddersfield Giants’ Managing Director Richard Thewlis said: “This is the next stage of development for Aiden who we’ve seen to be a stand-out performer this year in the under 19 Academy competition and of course is capped by England at his age group.

“The challenge week in week out in the Championship is a tough one but is one that he has wanted and we are grateful to York for contacting us when their squad was stretched and were quickly able to agree the deal. As is the case in all such arrangements, it will be reviewed by all parties on a week-to-week basis.”

McGowan could make his debut for York on Sunday as the Knights go up against Sheffield Eagles.
