Willie Peters reveals he spoke to Wakefield CEO about the pitch

After a build up dominated by talk of the pitch, Hull KR got over all the discussions about it to pick up an impressive comprehensive win over Wakefield Trinity in a fantastic return to form.

However, inevitably, coach Willie Peters was asked about the pitch after the game.

“I don’t want to go too much into it,” he said.

“I spoke to some Wakefield staff, a coach and the chief executive before the game so I don’t really want to go into it.

“We’ve played and are they feeling the impacts of the pitch? Yeah they are but they got through it, there was no major concerns.”

The Robins did lose star winger Ryan Hall to injury but when asked Peters said it was nothing to do with the pitch: “The pitch was different to what we’ve been used to but I don’t think it was due to the track.

“I know there was a lot of talk around the pitch but once we agreed, or the independent person said that we were going to be playing and said the pitch was fine, that was it we didn’t worry about it too much.

“Yeah there’s some scratches and some guys who are feeling it in there, but it is what it is.”

On Hall, he said:

“It’s his knee. He’s okay, I don’t think it’s major but I’m not a 100% sure. I’d say it’d be a few weeks out but I don’t know.”
