We’re only three days into the year 2023 and already there’s some surprising things happening on the rugby league scene with the latest one being Wigan Warriors “sourcing a new coach” for Bolton RLFC.
Bolton RLF have tweeted that the head coach they had in place for the upcoming 2023 season will be unable to fill that duty to a change in circumstance.
Despite this in the same tweet the amateur side were able to announce their new head coach as Ryan Lee, before they thanked an unlikely source for helping with the appointment.
BIG NEWS
Due to a change in circumstances we can now confirm that Ste Fitzmartin will no longer be taking up the Head Coach position with @BoltonRLFC for the 2023 season
However, in the same breath we are delighted to announce the signing of a new Head Coach in Ryan Lee

The club announced the change to their coaching staff via their Twitter page and then detailed what fans can hope to find out about their new coach.
Having played amateur level himself, Lee joins following a playing career that included a scholarship deal with Wigan Warriors and community rugby at St Judes before a spate of League One clubs including Gloucester All Golds and Oxford Rugby League.
Lee will now take up the role at Bolton effective immediately having already been announced as “the Bolton Development Officer for the Wigan Warriors” previously.
Scheduled to start that role this month, he’ll now go a step further and coach the Bolton side himself, something that the amateur club paid thanks to Wigan for arranging.
Since going into coaching he has coached at both Gloucester and Wigan Warriors. From January 2023, Ryan will become the Bolton Development Officer for the Wigan Warriors.
We’d like to thank @WiganWarriorsCF for all their help and support with sourcing a new coach.
