Who should be the next Castleford coach?… as decided by you

Ever since Daryl Powell announced he would be leaving Castleford and joining Warrington, the debate about who will replace him has raged ever since.

We did a Facebook poll and asked you, the fans, about who should take the reins at the Jungle.

Here are the results:

Lee Radford – 55%

Lee Radford was the frontrunner a week or so ago, but he responded to the rumours by shutting them down. That didn’t stop the bulk of the Castleford fans opting for the former Hull boss as their number one choice though.

James Ford – 14%

Again, another candidate that has seemingly pushed himself out of the running, James Ford is the Tigers fanbase’s second choice after enjoying a great few years at York.

Danny Ward – 14%

Locked in at joint-second place is current London boss Danny Ward who has been one of the most in-form Championship coaches. He almost guided the Broncos to Super League safety in 2019 and won a lot of plaudits for that, hence his position here.

Andrew Henderson – 7%

It was a news story that came out of left-field, but Andrew Henderson has apparently emerged as one of the front-runners for the Castleford job. That, however, has not inspired much confidence from the Tigers fans with just seven per cent supporting the former Tigers hooker to be given the new job.

Shaun Wane – 6%

Surprisingly, Shaun Wane is fourth in this list despite coming with the best CV out of all the candidates. The lack of votes in his favour could come from the fact that Wane did not have a very good relationship with the Castleford fans when he was coach of Wigan.

Danny Orr – 4%

The current assistant at Salford, it would be some return for Danny Orr, but stranger things have happened in sport. This could be the reason as to why he brings up the rear.
