Warrington Wolves players jump into crowd to separate fans following dismal loss to Leeds Rhinos

The boos started ringing out at the Halliwell Jones Stadium following a horrendous display as Warrington Wolves went down 40-4 against Leeds Rhinos

The crowd were quite clearly shellshocked despite running into a 4-0 lead early on, but a number of superb tries from the Rhinos put the West Yorkshire side firmly in the ascendancy.

The Rhinos cut Warrington apart in the first-half to lead by 20-4, but youngster Morgan Gannon had to leave the field with a head injury after catching his head on the wrong side of a Connor Wrench tackle.

Gannon failed his Head Injury Assessment which meant that he did not return to the field.

However, that didn’t seem to affect the Rhinos too much with their free-flowing rugby league taking the Wolves completely by surprise.

The likes of Blake Austin and Richie Myler looked rejuvenated whilst Zak Hardaker proved an incredible attacking threat as Rohan Smith looked on from the stands.

Rhyse Martin added a penalty shortly after half-time to make it 22-4 to put Warrington firmly on the back foot as the spectators made their feelings known.

But, another conglomerate of tries consigned Warrington to a a heavy defeat, with the supporters’ frustrations even spilling over into the stands.
