Warrington Wolves make two changes ahead of Hull FC test

Warrington Wolves boss Sam Burgess Super League

Sam Burgess will coach his first Super League game at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday night with Warrington Wolves hosting Hull FC.

After defeat in Perpignan last week Burgess is still looking for his first win and he’ll have a strong opportunity to do so on Friday as an injury-riddled Hull FC travel to the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

FC are missing 13 senior players and have been forced to recall a youngster from his loan at York Knights as part of seven changes.

As for Warrington, they’ve been able to name a strong squad and only copped one ban in a round that had seen 16 players charged.

That man was Jordy Crowther and the ex-Wakefield Trinity man will miss Friday’s game following his Grade C charge that landed him a one-match ban.

Warrington Wolves make two changes for Hull FC clash

Warrington Wolves captain Stefan Ratchford faces a race to be passed fit for round one.

The squad that Burgess has named is very strong though but surprisingly doesn’t once feature 17-year-old Arron Lindop who scored on debut last week and could be considered unfortunate to not have bagged a brace.

Lindop touched down acrobatically in the corner but was ruled out of play by the touch judge meaning referee Chris Kendall didn’t go to the video referee, yet had he then there’s a likely chance Warrington would have been awarded the try.

Joe Bullock returns to the squad with off-season signing Max Wood also being named, those two replacing the suspended Crowther and absent Lindop.

Captain Stefan Ratchford could make his first appearance of the season whilst Josh Thewlis will be hoping to claim the wing spot left vacant following Lindop’s absence.

Burgess has yet to address the media to reveal his squad decisions and why in particular Lindop doesn’t feature.

Warrington had seemingly come through the clash in France with a clean bill of health but more will be known once Burgess addresses the media.
