Warrington Wolves fans in meltdown following hammering at the hands of Wakefield Trinity

This Super League round has seen some huge score lines get notched up with Friday seeing Hull KR post 34 on Castleford Tigers but that fails to compare to the three weekend games, Wigan Warriors put up 44 against Leigh Leopards, league leaders Catalans Dragons scored 42 unanswered against Salford and now the result of the weekend has seen Wakefield Trinity defeat Warrington Wolves by a score of 42-6!

It’s the fourth consecutive home win for Mark Applegarth’s men and they have now drawn level with relegation rivals Castleford on points, with the huge win for Trinity and large loss for the Tigers now closing the points difference between the sides to just 12, compared to the massive 54 it was before Friday night.

Aside from the delight that many have expressed for Wakefield there’s actually huge cause for concern for Warrington with the Wolves slipping to their sixth straight defeat.

That’s dropped them to sixth in the table with Hull KR actually jumping them on points difference thanks to the huge hammering that Daryl Powell’s men took.

It’s a far cry from the Warrington side that we saw open the season with eight consecutive wins, since then they’ve won just three of twelve which is relegation form in itself.

Warrington fans have now taken to social media in a state of anger, confusion and embarrassment.

At the time of writing their final tweet from the game bearing the 42-6 score, captioned simply “FT” has a massive 88 quote retweets with fans taking out their anger towards what was a dismal performance.

Among them is a strong trend of fans calling for change, like these two tweets.

Another joked about how Warrington had fallen down from their massive early season high.

One fan demanded an apology for the traveling fans.

Could Daryl Powell be announced as having left the Halliwell Jones later on? Some certainly think so.

One fan claimed that the fans had turned on the players instead claiming it showed how rotten the culture of the club is.

Another fan seemed to question what exactly has gone wrong for such lacklustre performances.
