Wakefield Trinity winger Tom Johnstone reportedly close to signing for Super League rivals

Wakefield Trinity Tom Johnstone has lit up Super League in recent years.

The fleet-footed winger has made a name for himself as one of the most devastating finishers in the top flight with his raw pace and toughness wowing audiences.

Johnstone was reportedly the subject of huge interest from Warrington Wolves last season, but now it has been reported that another Super League rival is close to getting his signature.

That club, according to Rugby League Live, is Catalans Dragons.

It may seem a strange choice considering the French side have Tom Davies and Fouad Yaha on the wings, but teams cannot pass up a chance at signing such a superb talent.

A deal is understood to be close, according to the publication, with Johnstone out of contract at the end of the 2022 Super League season.

Catalans centre, meanwhile, Dean Whare is also out of contract with the Dragons reportedly offering his services to other clubs.
