Wakefield Trinity vs Halifax Panthers: Kick-off time, Team News & exciting debutants

Wakefield Trinity have been written off by many fans so far this off-season with many tipping them for relegation.

However, Trinity under new boss Mark Applegarth impressed against Leeds Rhinos on Boxing Day and are the only Super League side in action this weekend as the gear up for a big season in Reece Lyne’s testimonial match against Halifax Panthers as they celebrate the former Hull FC centre’s career.

As for the Panthers, they are hoping to break into the top two of the Championship after consecutive third place finishes over the last two seasons.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game today:

Kick-off time and TV details

The game kicks off at Belle Vue at 2pm and tickets still remain for the game for those interested.

Sadly, OurLeague are not showing this fixture so fans will have to wait for the highlights to be released.

Wakefield Trinity squad:

Applegarth has named his full side for today’s game. Jorge Taufua and Tom Lineham replace Lee Kershaw and Lewis Murphy on the wings who drop to the bench. There is a debut for Samisoni Langi at centre after he joined from Catalans Dragons as Lee Gaskell and Mason Lino start in the halves ahead of Morgan Smith who is on the bench. Liam Hood returns to the side after injury as Renouf Atoni makes his first start. Former NRL star Kevin Proctor will debut at loose-forward. Applegarth has named 13 substitutes as Reece Lyne is set to captain the side on his special day.

Halifax Panthers Squad

Simon Grix has named a 25-man squad for the game with the likes of former Warrington Wolves youngsters Eribe Doro and Tom Inman set to debut. As will Leeds Rhinos loanee Kai Morgan. Italy’s World Cup star Jake Maizen could feature as could former Hull KR and Castleford Tigers forward Will Maher.
