Wakefield Trinity paid transfer fee to secure Luke Gale signing

One of the biggest transfers of the season has been confirmed tonight.

Former Man of Steel Luke Gale is heading to Wakefield Trinity who are still winless at the bottom of Super League and have tasked the former Leeds Rhinos skipper with saving them from relegation.

They have failed to score in five games and have only scored more than one try on two occasions.

Thus, it should come as no surprise that Trinity have pulled out all the stops to sign the former England international and World Cup Finalist.

Keighley have confirmed that an undisclosed fee was paid to the club from Trinity to allow them to release Gale from his contract at the club.

They stated:

“Keighley Cougars have confirmed that Luke Gale has been released from his contract to join Wakefield Trinity with immediate effect.

“The club have accepted a transfer fee and we want to thank Luke for all his efforts in Cougars colours and we wish him the best of luck in his new chapter.”

Wakefield becomes the sixth club Gale has played for in Super League but he will be hoping to avoid relegation unlike with former club the Bradford Bulls who were relegated in 2014.
