Wakefield Trinity name unchanged side for Hull FC as they look to continue their great escape

Wakefield Trinity head to face Hull FC on Sunday with Trin having a genuine chance of lifting themselves from bottom of the table, something they’d have thought unlikely after their 14th consecutive loss earlier in the year, but game 15 came and with it victory over Leeds Rhinos and then Wigan Warriors shortly after and now Mark Applegarth’s men are launching the great escape.

That first win came just six games ago and they’ve now won four in that period with the most recent being the most impressive as they put Warrington Wolves to the sword 42-6, culminating in Daryl Powell’s dismissal.

Another win could take them ahead of relegation rivals Castleford who sit level on points but with a marginal points difference of just 12.

Wakefield face Hull FC who earlier in the season lost seven in a row, something that has heavily damaged their playoff hopes with the Black and Whites four points off the top six.

The team news for both sides is now confirmed with Trinity naming an unchanged 21, which is no surprise given last week’s performance, but is almost certainly the first instance of it happening this season for them.

The big news will surround if Will Dagger is fit to play with him missing out last week with what was presumed to be a knock, but given how well Luke Gale and Mason Lino then some would ask ‘why change a winning formula’.

Four try hero Innes Senior stars on the flanks again whilst the enigma the Big Bopper is of course named.

As for Tony Smith’s side they saw both Cam Scott and Liam Sutcliffe depart last week, Scott with severe cramp whilst Sutcliffe had seriously injured his finger leaving the bone protruding after being ‘degloved’.

Understandably Sutcliffe drops out alongside young Zach Jebson for Jamie Shaul and Carlos Tuimavave, whilst Tex Hoy continues to be unavailable.

The two sides meet on Sunday at 3pm with two points crucial for both, but arguably more so for Wakefield as they are currently playing for their Super League survival.
