Wakefield bottom of Super League again after heavy loss at Hull FC

Wakefield Trinity went back to the bottom of the Super League table after they were taken apart by a ruthless Hull FC side at the MKM Stadium.

Adam Swift opened the scoring for the black and whites after an excellent break from the outgoing Jake Clifford, with the playmaker handing inside for Swift to race away and score.

It wasn’t until just shy of the half hour mark that Tony Smith’s side added their second try through Carlos Tuimavave, with the game very much in the balance at this stage.

Despite being 12-0 down at the break there was no sign of the collapse that was about to happen for Trinity as Hull dominated the second half pretty much from start to finish.

Cam Scott grabbed the third try of the afternoon six minutes into the second half, before Jordan Lane added another four-pointer two minutes later.

Innes Senior then gave the visitors a glimmer of hope as he continued his try-scoring form since returning to the club, however normal service was resumed shortly afterwards.

Darnell McIntosh this time went over after more excellent work from Clifford, with the winger crossing for his second try with six minutes left after an error from Wakefield.

The icing was put on the Hull cake in the final moments as Joe Lovodua latched onto a surprisingly excellent kick from forward Andre Savelio to take FC past the 40-point tally.

Man of the match Clifford converted again to make it seven from seven with the boot and round of a very satisfying day at the office for the Airlie Birds – final score 42-6.

It’s a result that keeps Hull FC’s play-off hopes alive, while Wakefield will go into their relegation Grand Final against Castleford in 12 days time bottom of the table on points difference after this heavy defeat.
