Victim from Jarryd Hayne sexual assault case speaks out

Recently former NRL star and World Cup winner Jarryd Hayne was found guilty of sexual assault.

Now the victim has opened up on what she has described “a never-ending nightmare.”

“I still don’t know how to put any of this into words,” she said to Stuff.

“After going through the first and second trials, I was hoping this would all be over, and I could finally try and move on with my life.

“I have not been able to move on or feel any sense of peace.”

She went on to explain how the focus on social media in the trials hurt.

“Those things don’t just hurt, but they stay with me,” she said.

“This assault was something horrible that happened to me, something I feel that was very private, yet people speak about it like they were there.”

“I am stronger, and I am wiser, but I am damaged, and I won’t ever be the same person,” she said.

The NRL have reportedly considered stripping Hayne of his previous accolades in light of the trial.

A former Dally M Medalist, he could have his name removed from the record books.
