Two Super League clubs and a Championship who could sign try scoring forward who worked with Rohan Smith

Despite the fact 2023 has already begun, there are over 20 players down under still looking for a club leaving the door open for a Super League side to swoop in and make them a household name.

Among them is second-row Brendan Frei of the North Queensland Cowboys who has been sensational in the Queensland Cup for years.

Having worked under current Leeds Rhinos boss Rohan Smith at North Devils and alongside stars of Super League like Nene MacDonald, Frei stood out scoring 24 tries in 41 games despite his position and averaging two tries every three games last season.

So he would make any side a savvy signing.

Leigh Leopards
The Leopards have gone to this well before and it has worked wonders for them such as in the case of Nene MacDonald. So far going into 2023 they have signed bigger names but that doesn’t mean they won’t be interested in seeing if they can achieve the same success again with a signing of this nature.

Salford Red Devils
The Super League club of second chances, Salford Red Devils often take players no one knows or many people doubt and turn them into superstars. Thus, if they wanted to pad out their pack especially after the departure of former Warrington Wolves man Stialeki Akauola to Toulouse Olympique, he would be a smart signing.

Featherstone Rovers
The Rovers have more or less done their business for 2o23 but are always on the look out for ways to strengthen their squad and Frei would certainly do that especially in the way of ex-Castleford Tigers prop Jesse Sene-Lefao’s departure to Sheffield Eagles.
