Toulouse recruit former London centre

Toulouse have announced the signing of former London Broncos centre Guy Armitage on a contract until the end of the 2021 season.

Armitage started a trial period at the beginning of the month, and had impressed the coaching staff enough to be offered a deal.

The former Bronco came into the sport in 2019, having joined his brothers Steffon and Delon in rugby union. He played for London Wasps, London Irish, London Welsh and Toulon before making the step into league.

He was due to play for Ottawa Aces in 2021, but they decided to defer their entry to League One until 2022. This meant Armitage did not have a club for the new season.

A short statement from Toulouse said (translated from French): “Arrived in Toulouse on March 9 to take part in his first training in the days that followed, Guy successfully concluded his trial period with the TO.

“Quickly, he was able to show off his qualities and integrated very well into the Olympian collective. Sylvain Houles and his staff therefore logically wish to integrate him definitively into the group for the 2021 season.”
