Throwback: Referee awards drop goal despite attempt falling well short

Sometimes you just know when it’s not your day.

That was certainly the case for North Wales Crusaders back in July 2018 as they suffered a bitter 19-18 defeat to Hunslet – the difference between the sides coming from a drop goal that quite clearly didn’t have the distance.

Cain Southernwood’s effort, two minutes from time, ducked underneath the bar but the referee gave the one-pointer to the dismay of the Crusaders.
