Super League target Corey Norman makes shock career decision after confirming multiple clubs’ interest

It had been reported earlier in the season that St George Illawarra Dragons star Corey Norman had been shipped around to sides in both hemispheres.

One of those Super League clubs was the Catalans Dragons who, following the departure of veteran halfback James Maloney, were on the lookout for someone of the same calibre.

The French side, however, ended up going with Mitchell Pearce with Norman allegedly entering into talks with the Newcastle Knights as a replacement for Pearce.

“I have contacted Corey Norman’s management and they have had discussions with the Newcastle Knights,” Channel 7’s Michelle Bishop said on SEN’s Breakfast with Vossy.

“I will say that it is definitely not the Knights’ priority.

“I can also reveal that Corey Norman was shopped to the Catalans Dragons prior to this all happening when there was discussions of James Maloney possibly retiring.

“The Dragons were not interested and if you join the dots that’s because they were already well advanced in talking to Mitchell Pearce as their preferred option.”

But Norman, at only 30 years of age, has decided to hang up his boots on his playing career despite interest from elsewhere after telling Fox Sports he had no hard feelings to St George for not giving him another contract.

“It was good though like it is what it is,” Norman said.

“Everything has to come to an end.”
