Super League Disciplinary: 16 players charged with three headed to tribunal

Liam Watts

The Super League disciplinary is in after Round One of the new season with the Match Review Panel having their say on the first six matches of the season.

Super League disciplinary is always a big talking point and especially after the first round of this season with the new rules about head contact playing a key role in the first six games.

It started in the opening game with Hull FC and Hull KR colliding. The Black and Whites lost Herman Ese’ese to a yellow card in the first instance that we saw the new rules reducing a side to 12 men. They were returned to 12 men when Franklin Pele was sent off for a swinging arm which would have arguably yielded a red in almost any era.

Ligi Sao was also sent off for direct contact to the head with the knee retaliating to Matt Parcell who was sin binned and could also have faced disciplinary action.

The new rules were at play as Salford Red Devils star Ryan Brierley was sin binned for a high tackle. Opponent, Leeds Rhinos star Paul Momirovski, could have also face disciplinary action for a shoulder charge.

The biggest talking point was the sending off of Liam Watts under the new rules for Castleford Tigers whilst Wigan Warriors duo Kaide Ellis and Harry Smith escaped that fate. Catalans Dragons star Michael McIlorum did not.

This built to the question: who has been punished this week by the Match Review Panel?

Exactly, Liam Watts is completely and utterly innocent of any wrongdoing, theyrw ruining the man’s career and his life by hounding him, pack it in now because the game is being ruined and will no longer exist if the RFL carry on with this rubbish !
