Super League clubs set to scramble for Wests Tigers forward

Luke Garner looks destined to be pushed out at Wests Tigers, fuelling links of a move to Super League.

It was revealed months ago that Garner had been offered to clubs in the UK, but that subsequently fell silent.

However, the arrival of Parramatta Eels superstar Isaiah Papali’i in the back-row alongside one of Wests’ most impressive players Luciano Leilua, the chances for Garner appear slim.

News Corp’s Brent Read broke it all down on Triple M, detailing that the signing of Papali’i has huge ramifications in the grand scheme of things at the Tigers.

“You would have Luciano playing on one edge, Papali’i on the other, and it probably means that Luke Garner is suddenly expendable,” Read said as revealed by Fox Sports.

“There’s been talk around Luke Garner for a while now. I know Manly were quite keen on him for a while … so maybe Luke Garner becomes the guy who gets squeezed out of the club.”

Which Super League side may be interested is still questionable, with a number of top-flight sides at full quota for 2022 such as the Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers.

Catalans Dragons, meanwhile, still hold two quota spots with unwanted Canterbury Bulldogs forward Dylan Napa expected to fill one.
