Super League club interested in two top tier NRL stars

Super League target Anthony Milford

The vast majority of clubs have completed their transfer business for the 2024 club but one club is still set to be busy in the winter months.

That is the Catalans Dragons who Serious About Rugby League revealed could be in the market for up to three more signings to add to a squad that has been stripped pf some of its biggest names due to retirements and departures.

On top of this, Serious About Rugby League understands that the French club are interested in two NRL stars for next year but will only sign one of them due to having only one quota spot available and they only have need for one of them as well.

The two players in question are halfbacks Anthony Milford and Tristan Sailor. Milford is a World Cup Finalist with Samoa but it is understood that the Dolphins have told him that he can look for a new club ahead of the 2024 season.

As for Sailor, he is currently at Brisbane Broncos and has long been linked with a move to Super League with Hull FC previously interested. Milford nearly made the move to the UK when Leigh Leopards were interested but this move fell apart with the club instead signing Matt Moylan.

However, last year’s beaten Grand Finalists Catalans are in need of a spine player. This is because the club lost both their star fullback Sam Tomkins and halfback Mitchell Pearce to retirement as Tyrone May moved over to Hull KR.

Arthur Mourgue will likely replace Tomkins at fullback and Pearce has been replaced by Theo Fages from Huddersfield Giants but May still requires a replacement which is why the Dragons are keeping tabs on both Milford and Sailor.

As aforementioned, the Dragons can only sign one unless Matt Ikuvalu leaves the club as was rumoured at one stage. Either way they only require one. So, the question remains, who else will the Dragons target if they have plans to make three signings for next year. Time will tell but Steve McNamara’s aim is certainly to return to Old Trafford for the third time in four years but this time come away with the victory and the trophy.
