Super League Attendances: Leeds and Wigan post big crowds as 58,000 turn out

Round Eight of the Super League brought us an exciting set of fixtures, with big results for Huddersfield Giants, and Catalans Dragons, who remain two points clear at the top of the table.

The Giants battled hard to beat Leeds Rhinos 30-24 at Headingley, while St Helens comfortably defeated Hull FC 58-0 in the latest devastating result for the manager-less Black and Whites.

Despite a promising performance, Castleford Tigers lost to Wigan Warriors for a second time in quick succession.

Other sides at the bottom, Leigh Leopards and London Broncos, both came close before eventually succumbing to Warrington Wolves and Salford Red Devils.

In Perpignan, Catalans Dragons defeated Hull KR in a surprising fashion, winning 36-6 against one of the league’s most exciting and in-form sides in front of a Catalan crowd.

Leeds Rhinos once again boast the highest attendance of the round, with 13,128 supporters packing into Headingley Stadium, despite their disappointing recent run of form.

Wigan Warriors came close to Leeds’ attendance, with 13,029 fans seeing their side’s victory.

At the other end of the scale, just 2,450 fans were at Plough Lane for London Broncos’ eighth loss of the season.
