Sonny Bill Williams makes move into rugby league coaching

This one slipped under the radar, almost to the point at which very few people actually know it happened.

Sonny Bill Williams – after hanging up his boots with the Sydney Roosters – joined the club’s coaching staff and had one important role in particular.

That role is to mentor teenage sensation Joseph Suaalii, who received a special exemption to make his debut in round 11 as a 17-year-old, but a foot injury meant the teenager made just five appearances.

Williams will, however, continue to work with the teenage prodigy in 2022 in a bid to inspire him to greatness and follow in the cross-code star’s boots.

The 36-year-old recently released his own autobiography, titled: Sonny Bill Williams: You Can’t Stop the Sun from Shining, which sees Williams bare all in an incredible memoir of the life of an icon.

It was revealed in the book that he had interest from Super League in the form of Warrington Wolves, who came close to signing him but then backed out due to potential legal problems.
