Shock new twist in Super League target Mitchell Pearce’s future

Super League target Mitchell Pearce could be moving to the Wests Tigers, according to The Age.

There has been speculation about Mitchell Pearce’s future, with the halfback attracting interest from Catalans Dragons, but Wests Tigers are now said to be in for him.

Pearce has already been linked to Canterbury Bulldogs and Canberra Raiders, but now a third NRL club – as well as the Super League side Catalans – in the shape of the Tigers are chasing.

The Dragons are set to wave goodbye to James Maloney – who will join French Elite Championship side FC Lezignan – at the end of the season and Pearce was expected to fill that void.

The experienced veteran has been at Newcastle since 2018, but has had his fair share of off-field misdemeanours in that time with a switch to the south of France expected to rejuvenate Pearce’s career.

Catalans have reportedly offered a lucrative three-year deal for Pearce, and, at the age of 32, it could be the halfback’s last payday.
