Rochdale snap up ex-Widnes winger

Rochdale have confirmed the signing of former Widnes winger Sam Freeman for the 2020 season.

The 20-year-old confirmed his exit from the Vikings earlier this month, after making eight appearances for the club since his debut in April.

He becomes Rochdale’s eighth new signing for next year, joining Jordan Syme, Luke Fowden, Callum Ogden, James Connaughton, Declan Sheridan, Sean Penkywicz and Ben Calland.

Hornets head coach Matt Calland told the club website: “Sam is young, fit and athletic and he fits the bill for the sort of player we are looking for.
