Super League star Lachlan Lam makes huge decision on his after future, according to renowned journalist

Lachlan Lam has been one of the standout players in the 2023 Super League season with the PNG playmaker shining with Leigh Leopards and being one of the most important reasons why they run third in the table with a date at Wembley booked for the Challenge Cup Final.

His performances in the halves have seen Lam become one of the front runners for the Man of Steel award, particularly given how well the Leopards are going in Super League with plenty of their victories being attributed to sheer moments of Lam’s class.

He has come into his own in 2023 after a brilliant season in the Championship last year, but proving he can do it on the big stage of Super League means that he’s caught the attention of plenty of other clubs who are keen for his signature.

Obviously there are NRL clubs interested with many believing that Lam has taken multiple steps in his game since his stint with Sydney Roosters previously, where Lam failed to claim the shirt as his own.

It was reported previously that multiple NRL sides were chasing Lam with Canberra Raiders one of the front runners given that their star playmaker Jack Wighton is destined for South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2024.

Lam’s father and coach, Adrian, has spoken recently on aiming to get a deal done to retain the services of his son and it seems that is the way Lachlan will go.

It has now been reported by renowned NRL journalist ‘The Mole’ of Wide World of Sports that Lam is to snub the NRL and make a long term commitment to the Leopards.

It would be a huge statement of intent if Leigh can tie down Lam long term and one that would likely show that they’re not set to be a one season wonder, but instead are Super League challengers for the foreseeable future.

The Mole’s tweet in full reads: “NRL clubs want Lachie Lam – but he’s about to sign long-term with Leigh in Super League.”

When any contract signing will be announced is unclear but it looks set to be good news for Leopards fans at some point in the near future.
