Red Devils 3/1 for Grand Final glory

It’s been an amazing season so far for Salford fans but can they go that one step further at the Theatre of Dreams against St Helens ?

They were superb in dismantling champions Wigan last week , but now must beat the league leaders St Helens . Saints have only played once in 3 weeks whilst Salford have played 3 weeks in a row , that could take it’s toll later on in the game but the Red Devils have already given the Red V a real test this year narrowly losing 32-30 away in the regular season .

Saints have set a record league winning margin of 16 points and won’t want to freeze on the big occasion like they did against Warrington at Wembley . They’ve only lost 3 times all season in the league , twice at London, but Salford have won 10 of the last 11 and have man of steel Jackson Hastings in his best form this season .

Bookies can only see one winner and quote Saints at around 1/5 to get the job done and I have to agree . They have been the best side by a mile and should justify favouritism . The Red Devils are around 10/3 to win in 80 minutes , 3/1 to lift the trophy including extra time .

The handicap sees Saints concede a 10 point start and whilst this looks about right I think they may just cover it with a win by around 11-15 points . The Saints pack is head and shoulders above everything else in the league and that should provide the platform for the likes of Lomax (who has been up there with Hastings as my player of they year ) . In fact Saints haven’t lost in the league when he has played .

As for the man of the match , it’s hard to look past Hastings at 6/1 (you can get 10/1 if you shop around ) and Lomax at 5/1 but Thompson looks great value at 16/1 . For me though this could be the occasion for James Roby and he’d be my pick at around 5/1 . Red Devils fans may like the look of Josh Jones at 25/1 .
