Price plays down Cooper incident

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Steve Price has played down reports of a rift between him and forward Mike Cooper.

A video going around on social media seemed to show Cooper barging past Price on the touchline during their Challenge Cup defeat against Castleford Tigers on Saturday.

However, Price said there was nothing in the incident.

He said: “Nothing in it whatsoever. If there was an issue, me and Mike would sort it out and address it.

“But from my end, and Mike’s end, there is nothing whatsoever.”

Warrington face Wakefield on Friday night, hoping to bounce back from defeat last week and keep the pressure on the top three.

Price said they need to be better defensively against a Wakefield side finding form at the moment.

He added: “I’ve got a huge amount of belief in our squad that we can turn it around this weekend, against a team that has been playing some good stuff of late.

“They have a lot of strike in their offence, and we need to be better defensively. It’s all about getting our backyard in order and getting the response we want on Friday.

“There are a few bruised egos, and rightly so.”
