Powell praises side after win over Rovers

Castleford Tigers Head Coach Daryl Powell has praised his side following their 38-24 victory over Hull KR at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Like the Robins, Castleford were caught in traffic on the M62 following an oil spill. However, Powell has praised authorities for moving the match.

He said: “Well we had to get here first, which was interesting. A three hour journey across the M62. Preparation wise, it would always have an impact.

“It was smart thinking to move the game back, I thought we did ok off the back of it.

“We started well, but lost discipline after the forward pass, and we looked leaky on our own line. We showed a lot of character.

“We lost Nathan Massey and Jacques O’Neill, which meant we had to go for rotation after rotation.

“We had three young players who did really well, in Bailey Hodgson, Lewis Peachey and O’Neill before he went off. We showed a lot of commitment to win the game.

“It was a pleasing win, and one that was full of character.”
