Philbin expecting tough game

Warrington Wolves forward Joe Philbin said he still expects a fiery match against Wigan Warriors on Friday.

The pair have played in plenty of close encounters through the years, with the fans adding that extra spice to proceedings.

However, this year will be different, with no fans expected at Headingley Stadium for the clash due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite this, Philbin is still expecting the fixture to have that edge.

He said: “I feel we all thrive off the fans being there. However, I am anticipating a fiery encounter. I don’t think it will be any less fiery.

“I think we are both hurting from the weekend. Wigan won’t be happy with what they dished up, and we weren’t happy with what we dished up.

“We are going out there with a point to prove. Today in training, we had a real edge about us, and I’m looking forward to us taking that into the weekend.

“Wigan v Warrington is always going to fiery.”
