Ottawa sign former Widnes fullback

Ottawa Aces have completed the signing of back Jack Johnson from Widnes Vikings ahead of the 2021 season.

Johnson came through the academy at Warrington Wolves, before signing for Featherstone Rovers in 2019, and helped them to within one match of the Super League.

He then signed for Widnes Vikings ahead of the 2020 season, and made a good start to life there. He scored five tries in his opening seven matches.

Johnson said of the move: “I am really excited to announce that I’ll be signing for the Ottawa Aces for the 2021 season.

“I’m really looking forward to getting over there and get back to playing some rugby.

“I’m looking forward to getting started with a brand new team and getting over to Canada.”

Head Coach Laurent Frayssinous added: “Jack comes from a great system and he will add a lot to our squad with his experience, his speed and his trying scoring record and I am looking forward to seeing him around his team mates for the start of the new season.”
