NRL club left with egg on their face after including ex-Wigan Warriors star on merchandise by mistake

Jackson Hastings is one of the best players we’ve seen in Super League in the last few years.

He arrived mid way through the 2018 season and helped pull Salford Red Devils away from relegation prior to guiding them to the Grand Final in 2019 as he won the Man of Steel.

Another Grand Final would follow in 2020 with Wigan Warriors after he helped inspire them to the League Leaders’ Shield ending St Helens’ dominance over the top of the table but the Saints would defeat Hastings’ Wigan thanks to a bounce of the ball which gifted Jack Welsby one of the most memorable tries in Super League history.

After 2021 he left to join the Wests Tigers on a two year deal in the NRL where he would impress in a struggling side and become a beloved player amongst their fan base.

Three of their four wins came with him at seven but new boss, former Hull KR chief Tim Sheens is more keen on Luke Brooks in that role and was going to play Hastings at 13.

However, the Newcastle Knights’ need for a halfback and the Tigers’ need for forwards, which has seen them chase Wigan Warriors star John Bateman, saw them swap David Klemmer for Hastings.

This came after Sheens claimed Hastings would be staying and he evidently wasn’t lying when he said that.

This is because the Tigers have made an epic blunder and included Hastings on their 2023 calendar being sold to fans ahead of the new year and it’s draw quite a lot of criticism from the likes of the Daily Telegraph.
