New Warrington Wolves signing opens up on Daryl Powell

New Warrington Wolves signing Billy Magoulias has revealed just what his first impressions of new head coach Daryl Powell are as the Wolves return to pre-season.

The 24-year-old joined Warrington from Cronulla Sharks ahead of the 2022 Super League season and has the option to extend his contract for a further 12 months.

Magoulias is a Greek international and helped his country qualify for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup and will be the second Greek to represent Warrington following his national team coach Steve Georgiallis, who represented the Wolves back in 2001.

And, the former Cronulla ball-playing forward is already impressed with new boss Powell.

“Daryl has been good, he’s a really balanced person and understands what we need to get done on the field,” Magoulias told the Warrington website.

“He’s pretty approachable and you can speak to him about anything.

“He’s been great for me since I signed and I’ve been able to talk to him whenever and about anything, too.

“He’s been really genuine.”

Magoulias is one of six new recruits at the Halliwell Jones ahead of the 2022 season with Greg Minikin, Peter Mata’utia, Joe Bullock, James Harrison and Oliver Holmes as Powell attempts to turn Warrington’s fortunes around a trophy-less 2021.
