McShane receives ban but escapes maximum punishment

Castleford hooker Paul McShane has been suspended for three matches by an independent tribunal.

The Grade D charge related to an incident involving Richie Myler during Thursday’s match against Leeds when McShane used his forearm/elbow to push off the Rhinos half-back.

Despite unsuccessfully challenging the grading, McShane’s good record helped as the tribunal opted to go with the lower end of the grading.

He will therefore miss Castleford’s next three matches against Wigan, Huddersfield and Wakefield, returning for the Tigers’ Easter Monday clash against Catalans Dragons.

McShane also received a £500 fine for the incident.
