Mark Kheirallah given Featherstone Rovers debut a week after signing for club

Just one week after it was announced that he had signed for Featherstone Rovers, Mark Kheirallah is set to make his Featherstone debut against Sheffield Eagles today.

The French international was been regarded as one of the best players in the Championship whilst at Toulouse even stirring up interest from Super League clubs like Castleford Tigers.

At 32, many were excited to see the fullback tear Super League apart with Toulouse. However, it wasn’t to be with him and skipper Johnathan Ford leaving the club due to a rumoured dispute over the vaccine with rules in France stating that unvaccinated players cannot play.

This led to Toulouse drafting in former Huddersfield Giants fullback Olly Ashall-Bott as Kheirallah’s replacement whilst Kheirallah took on an opportunity with Featherstone being given the number 28 shirt.

The Rovers’ new fullback is now going to start at fullback against Sheffield as the Rovers look to maintain their unbeaten start to their league campaign after a first defeat of 2022 in a valiantly fought battle against Catalans away in the cup as the Rovers pushed last year’s Super League League Leaders’ all the way. He comes into the side following Brandon Pickersgill’s injury.

Kheirallah is one of a number of major signings made by Brian McDermott at Featherstone after brining in the likes Joey Leilua, Jesse Sene-Lefao, Ryley Jacks and Adam Cuthbertson as they pursue promotion to Super League.
