Leigh Centurions target to put in transfer request

Leigh Centurions transfer target Lachlan Lam is set to request a transfer from the Sydney Roosters.

That’s according to the World Wide of Sports, which claims that the 23-year-old is set to hand in a request in order to follow his father to Lancashire club Leigh.

Lachlan, son of Adrian, has played 31 games for the Roosters since debuting back in 2019, but is widely expected to play a major role in the Centurions’ tilt at Super League promotion in 2022.

The 23-year-old has also played two international games for Papua New Guinea, again following in his father’s footsteps.

Lachlan will, however, be determined to make a name for himself in the British game and help the Centurions achieve promotion.

Leigh have already recruited heavily for the Championship season ahead with the likes of Jy Hitchcox, Joe Wardle, Ata Hingano and Caleb Aekins all making the move to the Leigh Sports Village. NRL prop Tom Amone also made the move this morning from Wests Tigers.

The Centurions will have to contend with the likes of Featherstone Rovers, York City Knights, Halifax Panthers and Bradford Bulls in the promotion race, but they will be helped considerably by the increasing talent at their disposal.

Owner Derek Beaumont did, however, confirm the departure of Micky Higham last night, who was assistant coach.
