Leigh Centurions confirm star-studded line-up for Grand Final as expected attendance revealed

Leigh Centurions have named their team for tonight’s Championship Grand Final against Batley Bulldogs.

It is, unsurprisingly, a star-studded line-up so much so that one of Super League’s best ever try scorers, former Wigan and Warrington winger Josh Charnley, misses out with Krisnan Inu and Blake Ferguson named on the wings.

The centres are impressive with Ed Chamberlain and reported Leeds Rhinos target Nene MacDonald named whilst Caleb Aekins is at fullback.

The halves seen Lachlan Lam play under his dad Adrian hoping for a similar occasion to the Clearys this morning and is joined by Joe Mellor with Ben Reynolds on the bench alongside Championship Player of the Year Edwin Ipape, Ben Nakubuwai and Kai O’Donnell.

This sees Adam Sidlow and Tom Amone start at prop, Aaron Smith is at nine with Joe Wardle and Melbourne bound Sam Stone at second-row. Asiata is at 13.

The expected attendance has also been revealed by Leigh owner Derek Beaumont who took to Twitter to say that 7000 fans are expected at the Leigh Sports Village tonight including 1000 Batley fans who he branded as a “classy club” for selling so many tickets for an away game on a Sunday evening.

He said: Hats off to everyone able to attend today over 7k is a great turnout and to Batley Bulldogs for travelling on a Sunday evening over 1000 pre sales absolutely tremendous effort from your classy club! When can I stop biting my nails please.”

Batley’s team is yet to be revealed.
